As Christmas time approaches, I am reminded of the Christmas song titled, “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” Webster’s Dictionary defines peace as:
- The normal, non-warring condition of a nation, group of nations, or the world.
- A state of mutual harmony between people or groups, especially in personal relations.
Peace begins with us, individually. As we go about our day-to-day business, we can maintain a state of tranquility. As we relate to and engage with our loved ones, we can exercise patience, love, and joy. While we are in the company of co-workers, friends, neighbors, and the broader community, we can exemplify kindness, humility, and compassion.
As we prepare for this holiday season and approach the end of this year, let’s employ those qualities of ourselves that bring us together in a state of mutual harmony. Let there be peace on earth: keep your spirits high, maintain your willingness to love, to laugh, to live, and to embrace one another and all that life has to offer.
